Objectives Ranking Services

An organization must incorporate the most important job functions into its training curriculum.  Sometimes time and budget constraints limit the number of educational objectives that can be delivered in a specific curriculum.  In addition, a successful training program must respect the job commitments of its learners.  The training program must deliver skills that the learners will use, and not waste time attempting to transfer superfluous and trivial knowledge to students.  By ranking educational objectives in order of their importance, you can be assured that you are delivering the knowledge and skills that are most important to your learners.

Minds in Action's Objectives Ranking Services can help you ensure that your training program transfers the right skills to meet the needs of both your learners and your organization.  Minds in Action's Objectives Ranking Survey allows your experts to determine the relative importance of each of your educational objectives so that you can develop learning activities that are critical to success, while omitting lessons that have no impact on successful performance on the job.

Overview:

Minds in Action Objectives Ranking Services is composed of two major activities:

  1. Composing an Objectives Ranking Survey from your proposed educational objectives.  This survey will ask respondents to determine how critical each objective is to success on the job and how frequently the tasks embedded in each objective are performed on the job.  The survey may be created in a printed version that you can distribute to your experts, or your experts may take the survey on-line at the Minds in Action web site.
  2. After the Objectives Ranking Survey results are collected, Minds in Action will use an algorithm to calculate the relative importance of each objective.  Objectives will be ranked according to their importance on the job and the relative weight of each objective, reflecting how each of the objectives should be represented in your curriculum, will be documented.

Minds in Action Objectives Ranking Services is an essential step in ensuring that your training program reflects the realities of the job environment of your students.  By using Minds in Action's Objectives Ranking Services, you are ensuring that your training program contributes to competence on the job.
