Curriculum and Course Blueprinting Workshop

Your training curriculum must provide value to your organization and to the students attending your courses.  An effective curriculum defines the expected competencies of students as they complete your training curriculum.  The specific knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will be taught must be defined.  Your lessons and courses must progress logically, allowing your learners to continually develop their competencies.  The best instructional methods to advance your educational objectives must be used.  And all of this must be accomplished within a defined schedule.

The Minds in Action Curriculum and Course Blueprinting Workshop allows your organization to reduce the time and costs involved in course development.  The course blueprints developed during the Curriculum and Course Blueprinting Workshop clearly define the specific course objectives, lesson flows and timelines, thereby reducing the trial and error iterations that often accompany course development efforts.  Course and curriculum requirements and expectations are developed during the workshop, freeing your course developers to concentrate on their specific areas of expertise.

Overview:

Led by an experienced Minds in Action facilitator, four to ten of your subject matter experts and course developers analyze the requirements of your training program.  During The Minds in Action Curriculum and Course Blueprinting Workshop participants will define:

bullet

The expected competency of students when they complete your course or curriculum.  By defining course terminal objectives, potential students will recognize the specific skills they will learn, the environment in which the skills are applied, and the level of competency that your courses will develop.

bullet

The knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will be learned in your courses.  By defining knowledge, skills, and attitudes as enabling objectives in support of your terminal objectives, your organization will ensure that your courses address all of the components required to develop skills that will actually be applied on the job by your students.

bullet

Curriculum and course roadmaps that ensure your courses are delivered in the order that best facilitates effective learning.

bullet

Instructional methods that are most effective in ensuring that students retain the knowledge delivered in the class, apply the learned skills on the job, and exhibit the desired behavioral changes embedded in your defined attitudinal objectives.  Minds in Action will guide you through instructional method selection criteria that will allow you to choose the best learning methods for your educational objectives.

bullet Course and Curriculum Timelines that define the approximate amount of time that should be devoted to each lesson in your courses.

The length of the Minds in Action Curriculum and Course Blueprinting Workshop is dependent upon the scope of your training program.  Typically, the Curriculum and Course Blueprinting Workshop lasts from three to five days.

Purpose:

The Minds in Action Curriculum and Course Blueprinting Workshop is designed to provide a complete roadmap of learning activities for your training program.  Competency requirements and learning objectives are created to define the goals of your program.  Specific course roadmaps and timelines define the structure of your training program.  Instructional methods are identified to define the specific lessons that will be delivered.  These components are incorporated into a Curriculum Blueprint that serves as the design document for your training program.

The Minds in Action Curriculum and Course Blueprinting Workshop reduces the time and costs involved in course development by reducing the iterations required to develop and deliver effective courses.  By creating courses according to the specifications detailed in the Course Blueprint, your course developers will be able to more quickly design learning activities that meet your organization's training goals.
